Reality?

So, Denise Richards has a reality show on E!. For reasons passing understanding, Lindsey Lohan's Mom does too, but that's another story. Randomly, as one does when attempting to fall asleep at night, I caught a couple of episodes last night and was intrigued and turned off at the same time. Consider this:

She's an interesting person. Shockingly, I haven't seen Wild Things- and I thought she was a crap Bond Girl. (Yeah, Denise Richards as a nuclear physicist with a dumb name. Very believable, Bond people.) Yet she lives in a giant house, has 10 dogs, 3 pigs, 3 cats, 2 daughters, her Dad and swears like a drunken sailor.

Yet despite this, the whole damn thing is just too staged. That's the problem I have with reality television these days. It's become a parody of itself, a 'reality show' that is in fact, a carefully scripted television show, where people act- and aren't just themselves. Props to The Real World for doing something genuine in the early seasons, but even they've jumped the shark and it's almost ironic that reality shows nowadays come across as pretty damn fake.
