Skyscrapers

An interesting piece from the Independent on the growth of super-skycrapers. Currently, the Burj Dubai in the UAE is the world's tallest man-made structure and it's still under construction- and now some Saudi Prince wants to build a mile-high tower over in Jeddah near the Red Sea.

Some of the arguments in the article make sense: building upwards and not outwards does make sense and it does cut down on urban sprawl, but some of these buildings are getting ridiculously tall. The UAE and Saudi Arabia obviously have way too much money on their hands.
