Some good news from Iowa City- the Coralville Reservoir crested Saturday night at 717 feet above sea level. The latest from the Army Corps of Engineers is that water will stop flowing over the spillway by June 24th or 25th. Iowa City's still not out of the woods though- concerns are turning towards Ralston Creek which runs through much of the city and flooding problems are moving further south- with concerns about the town of Hills to the south and flooding in Columbus Junction and worries about levees at Oakville.
In Cedar Rapids, the efforts are turning to recovery as the water recedes and plans for re-entry into flooded areas are accelerating.
Des Moines seems to be out of the woods as well- Birdland is still underwater, but water levels on the Raccoon and Des Moines Rivers are dropping and bridges are re-opening and evacuation notices being lifted.
Via Instapundit, a list of charities you can donate too if you want to help. (Think the post was recycled from Katrina relief efforts, but most of the organizations should still apply.) And a 'how to help' link from the Press-Citizen.
