The End. (Really)

ESPN and other sources are expecting that Favre will probably be traded to Tampa Bay within the next twenty four hours. Finally, an end to the Favre saga- and the blame game is just getting underway. Myself, I tend to come down on the side of the Packers in this one, but no one gets away clean. Favre should have probably been a lot more direct about his intentions instead of doing this weird, flirty, maybe I will, maybe I won't thing before coming out and saying that he wants to play again. The fact he was so indirect and well, mushy about it only made things worse for the Packers. They had what they thought was a new starting QB with Aaron Rogers only to discover their old starting QB wanted his job back- what were they supposed to do?

I'm sure in the days to come, sports pundits will be dissecting this one into oblivion, but finally, whatever you think, sports fans can breath a sigh of relief that the saga is over and they don't have to hear about it anymore. I think the transition between an old legendary veteran QB to a new young replacement is a tricky one for any time, but I think between Brett Favre and the Packers they managed to construct a perfect textbook case of how NOT to handle it. Whatever way you spin it, this whole situation was a massive blunder and a massive distraction for a team that doesn't need distractions. Aaron Rogers has enough on his plate without this crap, but apparently, we'll have to wait to see if it had any affect on the team as a whole. I'm betting it's minimal, but you never know.

As for the NFC North, well Vikings fans should be extremely happy about this. Tavaris Jackson has been coming along for a couple of years now and he could be swinging into his prime this season. With Adrian Peterson at RB the Vikings have a solid running game, but QB is a question. It's up to Jackson to answer that question- and with Brooks Bollinger and John David Booty competing for the number 3 QB slot, the Vikes have the potential to have some depth at the QB position, depending on how things go.

But as for Tavaris Jackson and QB's in general: this is the season. Green Bay is a mess right now, the Bears flame out early and Detroit? Hmmmm... I can't really think about anything to say about Detroit which probably says a lot about the Lions. The Division, basically, is Minnesota's for the taking. But they have to take it.

The end of the Favre saga off the field is apparently imminent. Now, everyone's just got to prove it on the field.
